The singer recalls a painful wedding experience after the iconic look took a toll

Celine Dion reminisced about her wedding day in a recent interview, revealing a surprising and painful consequence of her iconic wedding headpiece. In a video for Vogue’s “Life in Looks” series, Dion shared the story behind her extravagant wedding ensemble from her 1994 marriage to René Angélil.

Reflecting on her wedding day, Dion expressed how deeply she still feels the presence of her late husband, Angélil, who passed away in 2016 after battling cancer. She fondly remembered the memorable moments shared with him and their three children.

Describing her wedding attire, Dion confessed, “The dress couldn’t have been big enough. I could’ve had three times the size on my head.” She explained that her headpiece, though stunning, was quite weighty and securely fastened to her head.

Despite feeling no discomfort during rehearsals, Dion faced unexpected challenges on her wedding day. The flooring in the cathedral was different from what she had practised on, resulting in a painful experience as she walked down the aisle.

“I had an immediate facelift,” Dion recalled, demonstrating how her face contorted in pain. “I start to walk and I go like, ‘Am I gonna make it? Am I going to make it to my future husband?’ But like I said, I’m going to run to you. I did.”

Although she managed to push through the discomfort and enjoy her wedding night, Dion discovered a painful cut on her forehead when she removed the headpiece. The following day, she woke up to a sizable bump on her forehead, requiring her to be on antibiotics for three weeks.

Despite the mishap, Dion’s recent appearance in Vogue France showcased her resilience and positivity amid her ongoing health battle with Stiff Person Syndrome. She expressed gratitude for being asked to reveal her beauty at 55 and shared her determination to overcome her health challenges.

Last month, Dion spoke out about her struggles with Stiff Person Syndrome, emphasizing her determination to return to the stage and live as normal a life as possible. Her inspiring message of resilience continues to inspire fans worldwide.
