Firefighters save Delevingne’s cats amid extensive damage to her themed LA home
In a devastating turn of events early Friday morning, Cara Delevingne’s lavish Los Angeles home was consumed by fire, causing significant destruction. The incident prompted a massive response from nearly 100 Los Angeles Fire Department personnel who battled the flames that aggressively spread through the home, particularly affecting the attic and majority of the structure. The fire’s rapid progression resulted in “a lot of excessive damage,” according to LAFD’s Capt Adam VanGerpen.
Delevingne, who was in London for her role in the West End revival of Cabaret, expressed her sorrow on Instagram, reflecting on the unpredictability of life and the importance of cherishing what one has. She shared her gratitude towards the firefighters for their heroic efforts, especially for saving her two beloved cats, initially feared lost to the inferno.
The fire, which erupted around 4am, challenged firefighters with a lengthy driveway leading to Delevingne’s unique two-story residence. Despite the initial grim outlook for Delevingne’s pets, the model and actor later confirmed their safety, thanking the firefighters once again through social media.
The blaze not only posed risks to property but also to individuals, with a house sitter inside the home during the incident sustaining minor injuries and subsequently receiving medical treatment. In a concerning turn, a firefighter also experienced a fall from a ladder but is expected to recover fully.
As investigations into the cause of the fire continue, the community and fans rally around Delevingne, offering support and sympathy during this challenging time. The loss of her home, described in a 2021 Architectural Digest feature as having a distinctive “Mad Hatter’s tea party” theme among other unique room concepts, represents a significant personal and material setback for Delevingne.
