In the latest episode of the Lipstick On The Rim podcast, hosts Molly Sims and Emese Gormley delved into the trials and tribulations of sharing a bed in a relationship, with celebrity guest Cameron Diaz offering a potentially controversial solution.
Cameron boldly suggested, ‘We should normalise separate bedrooms.’ A radical idea, considering the cohabitation norms many couples adhere to. Although not entirely practical for those who share living spaces for both cosy companionship and financial reasons, Cameron took it a step further.

We have the family house in the middle. I will go and sleep in my room. You go sleep in your room. I’m fine.’
But fear not, for the rom-com queen has thought of everything, even when it comes to intimate time. Cameron proposed the inclusion of a third bedroom in the family house for such occasions. ‘And we have the bedroom in the middle that we can convene in for, you know, our relations,’ she added.
Despite these unconventional musings, Cameron clarified that this is not the arrangement she follows with her husband, Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden. She humorously mentioned that her current perspective is influenced by the fact that her husband is ‘so wonderful’ and that she had made such comments before tying the knot.
While the concept of multiple houses or bedrooms might be financially impractical for the average couple, Cameron Diaz raises an intriguing question: Must we spend every night in a shared bed to validate a healthy relationship? The debate is on – you be the judge!
