The 48-year-old actress, renowned for her roles in films like “Girl, Interrupted” and “The Eternals,” expressed weariness with the Hollywood lifestyle and a desire for a more private and tranquil existence.

Jolie, who catapulted to fame in her early 20s, acknowledged the scrutiny her personal life has faced, especially with three high-profile marriages to Jonny Lee Miller, Billy Bob Thornton, and Brad Pitt. In a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal, she admitted that the current landscape of constant public exposure might have deterred her from pursuing an acting career if she were starting out today.

The ongoing divorce proceedings with Brad Pitt have limited Jolie’s freedom to travel, and she now hopes to eventually leave Los Angeles. Sharing her aspirations, she stated, “It’s part of what happened after my divorce. I lost the ability to live and travel as freely. I will move when I can,” expressing a desire to spend more time at her home in Cambodia.

In the interview, Jolie described Hollywood as “not a healthy place,” emphasizing its shallowness. The actress, who has been selective about film projects in recent years, has previously hinted at feeling a bit down.

“I don’t feel like I’ve been myself for a decade, in a way. Which I don’t want to get into,” she told Vogue earlier this year, avoiding specifics but attributing a positive change in her life to motherhood. Jolie, a mother of six, adopted her first son, Maddox, from Cambodia at the age of 26, and she credits her children with saving her and teaching her to navigate the world differently.

While Jolie remains involved in upcoming projects like “Kung Fu Panda 4” and the biopic “Maria,” where she portrays opera singer Maria Callas, her contemplation of an exit from Hollywood signals a potential shift in her career trajectory and a pursuit of a more private and fulfilling life.
