Brave teenager’s harrowing tale of survival after tragic plane crash

In a gripping tale of survival, Autumn Veatch, the sole survivor of a plane crash at the age of 16, recounts her harrowing experience of hiking through the mountains for two days to reach safety. The incident occurred when the small plane carrying Autumn and her grandparents crashed into a mountainside in north-central Washington State back in 2015.

In an interview with CNN, Autumn vividly described the moment of impact, recalling the loss of visibility and the chaos that ensued. She revealed her immediate response was to assist her grandparents, who were still alive at the time. However, the intensity of the fire and her petite stature made it impossible for her to rescue them.

“I was certain I was gonna die,” Autumn confessed. With her grandparents screaming in the background, she faced the chilling reality of being alone in the woods.

Her survival instincts kicked in, leading her to decide to go downhill, remembering the survivor shows she watched with her father. Battling the elements, Autumn hiked through the wilderness, enduring freezing temperatures and the fear of hypothermia. After two days of navigating the challenging terrain, she reached the nearest highway close to the small town of Mazama.

Autumn’s remarkable journey came to a fortunate end when two men found her in a car park and drove her to Mazama, where she could call for help. This extraordinary tale stands as a testament to human resilience and the will to survive even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.
