Gracie Abrams wins breakthrough artist at the 2025 iHeartradio Music Awards and shares heartfelt gratitude to Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and her fans
Gracie Abrams took a monumental step in her career as she was crowned Breakthrough Artist at the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Monday, March 17. The 25-year-old singer-songwriter used her moment in the spotlight to express deep gratitude to her mentors, fans, and industry friends, including Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Noah Kahan, and The National.
After delivering a powerful performance of her hit song That’s So True, Abrams took the stage to accept her award, overcome with emotion as she reflected on her journey.
“For the incredible artists who allowed me to share their stages at different times and in different ways—Taylor and Olivia and Noah Kahan and The National—and for each of the openers who have supported me on my tours, I’m in awe of all of you,” she said.
Abrams also gave a special shout-out to Aaron Dessner, one of her biggest collaborators, before turning her attention to her loyal fanbase.
“I would not be here if it were not for the support, loyalty, creativity, and true goodness of the fans. So just thank you so much. You guys are my whole damn heart,” she added.
Beyond the excitement of her win, Abrams used her platform to share a message of hope and unity, acknowledging the challenges of the world today.
“We’re living in tricky times—so much is uncertain and so suddenly and unnecessarily cruel,” she noted. “But when we gather like this at a concert or a festival or the theater within our local communities, we remind each other that there’s still so much light and kindness between and among us.”
The award was presented by Billie Eilish, who has known Abrams since she was 15 years old. Eilish reminisced about their early days as aspiring musicians, exchanging voice memos of their songwriting ideas.
“I love that girl so much,” Eilish said warmly. “I have loved watching her finally take over the world the past year.”
Abrams’ meteoric rise over the past year has been nothing short of extraordinary. In June 2024, she released her second studio album, The Secret of Us, which resonated deeply with fans. Her chart-topping single That’s So True went viral, climbing to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in November 2024.
With a groundbreaking award now under her belt and an army of dedicated supporters, Abrams’ future in the music industry looks brighter than ever.
