Lesma-Rose Wibier, 4, died after being rescued from a house fire—police re-arrest woman for murder
Lesma-Rose Wibier, 4, has been named as the victim of a tragic Manchester arson murder after a devastating house fire claimed her life.
The suspected arson attack broke out in a property on Gateshead Close in Rusholme around 12:30 GMT on Sunday. Emergency crews pulled Lesma-Rose from the blaze, but she later died in hospital.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) initially arrested a 44-year-old woman, who was known to the child, on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. She has since been re-arrested on suspicion of murder. The woman has been detained under the Mental Health Act and is awaiting further assessment.
Lesma-Rose’s family described her as “the star of the family” and “the most beautiful girl inside and out.” In a heartbreaking tribute, they said she was a “smart and intelligent” child who “always had a smile on her face and could put the same on others’.” They have requested privacy as they grieve.
Images from the scene show a burnt-out window on the first floor of the terraced house, while police tape cordons off the area. A message reading “You are Loved” has been sprayed on a nearby wall.
