Meghan Markle is reportedly using her new cooking show to reinvent her image and compete with Kate Middleton.
Meghan Markle is on a mission to reshape how the world sees her, and this time, she’s picking up a spatula. The Duchess of Sussex is preparing to launch a Netflix cooking show under her lifestyle brand As Ever, and royal insiders believe the project is more than just a passion project—it’s a carefully crafted rebrand.
Royal expert Ingrid Seward has suggested that Meghan is striving to appear more “homely” in an effort to soften her image after years of controversy. Speaking to Fabulous, Seward claimed the Duchess wants to be seen as a homemaker rather than a “royal wrecker.”

Meghan may see this as an opportunity to position herself in a similar light.”
The Duchess’s decision to step into the culinary spotlight has raised eyebrows, with some royal watchers interpreting it as an attempt to rival Kate Middleton’s long-standing reputation as the more relatable and family-focused royal. “I think Meghan wants to try and get one over on Kate too,” Seward added.
Since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, Meghan and Prince Harry have faced relentless scrutiny. Their lucrative deals with streaming giants like Netflix and Spotify have been met with mixed reactions, with some accusing the couple of exploiting their royal connections while criticising the institution they left behind. Meghan’s podcast, Archetypes, was cancelled after just one season, further fuelling scepticism about their post-royal ventures.
With As Ever set to become Meghan’s latest project, some believe she is making a calculated move to regain public favour. “I think Meghan is desperate for good publicity,” Seward said. “She wants to project this very homely image of herself.”
Details about the cooking show remain under wraps, but sources suggest it will showcase Meghan’s love for food and lifestyle curation. The show is expected to tie into As Ever, her upcoming brand, which reportedly focuses on wellness, home décor, and sustainable living.
As Meghan repositions herself in the public eye, the question remains: is this an authentic reflection of her passions, or just another strategic PR move? Whatever the case, it seems the battle for the “homely” royal image is heating up.
