James Vince to focus on T20 in 2025, stepping back from red-ball duties

Hampshire captain James Vince will sit out red-ball cricket in the 2025 season to focus on leading the county in the T20 Blast and participating in The Hundred, according to BBC Radio Solent. The 33-year-old, Hampshire’s top scorer in the Championship for four consecutive seasons, is redirecting his efforts to white-ball formats and international franchise opportunities.

Vince, who debuted for Hampshire in 2009, has amassed nearly 12,500 first-class runs with an impressive average of over 41. However, his absence in the red-ball campaign coincides with Hampshire’s six County Championship fixtures scheduled during the Pakistan Super League, where Vince is committed to representing Karachi Kings from 8 April to 19 May.
