Fans criticise JoJo Siwa for packing luxury outfits during l.A. Wildfires evacuations

JoJo Siwa has come under fire after fans labelled her recent social media posts as “tone deaf” amidst the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. The 21-year-old entertainer shared footage of herself packing belongings to prepare for a potential evacuation of her Tarzana mansion, focusing on bedazzled costumes and iconic outfits rather than essentials.

The video, shared by her girlfriend Kath Ebbs, featured Siwa packing items like a black bodysuit from the 2024 iHeart Radio Awards and a rhinestone-covered high-visibility jacket. In the clip, Kath humorously commented, “Things my girlfriend packed in case of a fire evacuation,” sparking outrage among viewers.

Social media users criticised Siwa’s apparent prioritisation of material possessions over the human toll of the wildfires, which have destroyed homes and displaced families across Los Angeles. One commenter wrote, “While others are losing their homes, families, and pets, she’s worried about costumes?” Another added, “This is so out of touch with reality.”

Defending her choices, Siwa responded, “It’s not about work; it’s just irreplaceable. This is my BOOMERANG costume. It’s my entire life!” referring to her breakout song and its iconic attire.

Kath later confirmed the couple didn’t need to evacuate, providing an update on Thursday morning. However, the wildfires have wreaked havoc in Los Angeles, particularly near Topanga State Park, where several celebrity homes were destroyed.

Siwa’s Tarzana property, which she purchased in 2019 at just 16 years old, is currently listed for $3.95 million. The mansion sits near the affected area but has so far remained unharmed.

Fans expressed disappointment in Siwa’s perceived lack of sensitivity during a time of widespread loss and destruction. Some called for celebrities to use their platforms more responsibly, with one user saying, “You have millions of followers. Show compassion instead of flaunting privilege.”

As the wildfires continue to rage, criticism of Siwa underscores the growing demand for public figures to approach such crises with empathy and awareness.
