The prime minister commended Qatar’s principled stance on the Gaza conflict, recognising its humanitarian initiatives and diplomatic efforts aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Gazan population. He praised Qatar’s role as a facilitator of dialogue, advocating for a just resolution to conflicts in the region.

In response, the Qatari premier underscored Pakistan’s strategic importance in the region and expressed eagerness to strengthen ties in line with Qatar’s vision for economic growth and regional stability. Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with Pakistan to promote peace in the area, particularly concerning Afghanistan.

As part of the discussions, PM Shehbaz extended an invitation to Qatari investors to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s diverse economic landscape, which encompasses sectors such as agriculture, information technology, and tourism. He emphasised the Pakistani government’s dedication to creating a favourable environment for foreign investment and discussed potential incentives designed to attract Qatari businesses into the market.

The prime minister highlighted that this visit would serve to further entrench the strong bonds of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation that exist between Pakistan and Qatar, ensuring that both nations benefit from enhanced collaboration.

Additionally, PM Shehbaz expressed admiration for Qatar’s stance on the Palestinian issue, as articulated by its leaders during the 79th United Nations General Assembly held in late September. He appreciated Qatar’s mediation efforts towards achieving an immediate ceasefire and ensuring the unimpeded supply of humanitarian aid to those in need. The prime minister also extended an invitation to the Qatari emir to visit Pakistan in the near future.

Later in the day, PM Shehbaz and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani visited the National Museum of Qatar, where they attended an art exhibition titled ‘Manzar: Art and Architecture of Pakistan from the 1940s to Today’. This visit not only showcased the artistic heritage of Pakistan but also symbolised the cultural ties being fostered between the two nations.

Through this official visit, PM Shehbaz aims to solidify the partnership with Qatar, reinforcing their commitment to mutual development and shared prosperity.
