Despite an awkward encounter at Paris Fashion Week, sources confirm the two actresses share no animosity

Salma Hayek and Nicole Kidman are reportedly on good terms following a tense interaction that gained significant attention during Paris Fashion Week. The moment, which went viral, featured the two stars alongside singer Katy Perry and sparked debate among fans regarding the nature of their relationship.

The incident occurred during the Balenciaga spring/summer 2025 show on September 30, where a clip surfaced showing Hayek, 58, attempting to guide Kidman into the camera frame by placing a hand on her side. Kidman appeared to react unfavourably, pushing Hayek’s hand away and seemingly instructing her, “Don’t touch me.”

In response to the viral footage, a source close to Hayek clarified that the interaction has been taken “totally out of context.” The source emphasised that both actresses “love and respect each other,” dispelling notions of any bad blood between them.

Fans initially reacted negatively to Kidman’s response, branding her behaviour as “rude” and “passive-aggressive” towards Hayek. However, just a day after the incident, Hayek shared a smiling picture of herself with Kidman on Instagram, which highlighted their camaraderie despite the earlier awkwardness. In the post, she wrote, “Finally last night the grand finale of my Paris Fashion Week 2025… Balenciaga and Demna for a terrific show,” further reinforcing their positive rapport.

During the Balenciaga event, both actresses stunned in fashionable all-black ensembles. Hayek donned a striking dress with a plunging neckline, complemented by an elegant updo adorned with a large bow. Meanwhile, Kidman opted for a sleek black bodycon dress paired with matching sunglasses, showcasing their distinct yet equally stylish aesthetics.

This event marked one of Kidman’s first public appearances following the passing of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, in September at the age of 84. The actress was unable to attend the Venice Film Festival to accept the Volpi Cup for Best Actress for her role in Halina Reijn’s erotic thriller, Babygirl, due to her mother’s death. In a heartfelt statement read on her behalf, Kidman expressed her shock and sorrow, dedicating the award to her mother and acknowledging her profound influence on her life and career.

Following the funeral, Kidman took to Instagram to thank fans for their support during this difficult time. “My sister and I along with our family want to thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness we have felt this week,” she shared, accompanied by a cherished photo of her mother. “Every message we have received from those who loved and admired our Mother has meant more to us than we will ever be able to express.”

As for the alleged tension with Hayek, it appears to be nothing more than a momentary misunderstanding, with both actresses focusing on their respective careers and personal lives as they move forward.
