The V&A Museum in London will host the Taylor Swift | Songbook Trail exhibition, showcasing the pop icon’s personal items and career highlights
Just in time for the school summer holidays, a new exhibition dedicated to Taylor Swift is set to open in the UK. The Taylor Swift | Songbook Trail will be hosted at the V&A Museum in South Kensington, London, from July 27, 2024, to September 8, 2024, and entry is free, with no pre-booking required.
The exhibition celebrates the creativity of Taylor Swift’s costumes, music videos, and lyrics. It will feature 16 looks across 13 stops, each showcasing a chapter of Swift’s illustrious career. The items on display include customized cowboy boots and a jet-black ruffled shoulder dress from her recent music video “Fortnight,” alongside instruments, music awards, and storyboards.
Taylor Swift’s personal collection lends many of these items, offering fans a unique glimpse into the artist’s life and work. The V&A Museum will also explore Swift’s childhood and recording legacy, providing a comprehensive look at her journey from a young musician to a global superstar.
This exhibition comes over a year after The Eras Tour debuted in Arizona, with performances continuing throughout Europe. Fans who have secured concert tickets for Swift’s upcoming London dates in August will have even more to look forward to with this exhibition.
Kate Bailey, senior curator in Theatre and Performance at the V&A, expressed excitement about the exhibition, stating, “We are delighted to be able to display a range of iconic looks worn by Taylor Swift at the V&A this summer—each celebrating a chapter in the artist’s musical journey. Taylor Swift’s songs—like objects—tell stories, often drawing from art, history, and literature.”
In addition to the Taylor Swift exhibition, other attractions set to reopen in the UK include the Moco Museum on Oxford Street, featuring immersive artworks from artists like Banksy, Warhol, and Tracy Emin. The London Museum, formerly the Museum of London, is also slated to reopen in 2026 at its new location in Smithfield after a £437 million relocation from Barbican.
