Duke of Sussex presents award to US Army veteran Elizabeth Marks at California home
Prince Harry, despite being stripped of his military titles, presented an award to US Army Sergeant First Class Elizabeth Marks at his Montecito mansion in California.
The Duke of Sussex, who now resides in the United States, honoured Marks with the Soldier of the Year award for her remarkable achievements, despite no longer holding his previous military titles.
Marks, a combat medic who suffered bilateral hip injuries in Iraq, went on to win five Paralympic medals and four gold medals at Harry’s Invictus Games. In a video tribute recorded from his home, Harry praised Marks as a “friend” and “beacon of inspiration.”

In his speech, Harry highlighted Marks’ resilience and determination, citing her ability to overcome obstacles and inspire others through sport. He commended her for using her experiences to assist others in their mental and physical journeys.
