Memphis rapper Glorilla faces DUI charges after a late-night traffic stop in Gwinnett County; released on bond ahead of upcoming tour

Memphis-based rapper GloRilla, born Gloria Hallelujah Woods, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) in Gwinnett County, Georgia, early Tuesday morning. The arrest occurred after she was pulled over for making an illegal U-turn at a red light around 4 a.m. on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Suwanee Walk Avenue.

According to the Suwanee Police Department, the officer who conducted the stop noticed that Woods had watery and bloodshot eyes. The officer also detected the smell of alcohol on her breath and marijuana emanating from the vehicle. Woods reportedly admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving but insisted to the officer that she was capable of driving safely.

During the field sobriety test, an incident occurred where Woods’ clothing became dishevelled, leading to further complications during the arrest. Authorities also found marijuana and an open alcoholic beverage in her vehicle, adding to the charges.

Woods was not alone in the vehicle; she was accompanied by her brother, who was a passenger at the time of the incident. Following the arrest, Woods was able to secure release a few hours later on bond.

The incident comes at a critical time for the “Yeah Glo!” rapper, who is slated to co-headline the Hot Girl Summer Tour 2024 with Megan Thee Stallion. The tour is expected to be a major event, with performances scheduled in Atlanta on May 31 and June 1, among other dates.

GloRilla’s arrest has stirred conversations around the responsibilities of public figures and the impacts of their actions. As the legal process unfolds, fans and critics alike are keen to see how this will affect her scheduled performances and broader career
