Tristan Gemmill, renowned for his role as chef Robert Preston in the iconic soap “Coronation Street,” recently opened up about the enduring relationships he has maintained with his former co-stars. Having left the show in 2019, Gemmill’s transition to new creative ventures hasn’t severed his ties with the cast, illustrating the deep connections formed during his tenure.

Currently, Gemmill is showcasing his acting prowess in the stage adaptation of “Twelve Angry Men,” performing at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin. The show, which runs from April 16 to April 20, has already attracted some familiar faces from his “Coronation Street” days, reinforcing the strong bonds he discussed.

In a heartfelt revelation to RSVP Live, Gemmill highlighted the visit from Kym Marsh, who played Michelle Connor on “Coronation Street.” Marsh attended a recent performance in Manchester, and their subsequent reunion underscored the close-knit nature of their relationship. “We had a lovely catch-up afterwards,” Gemmill shared, reflecting on the support he continues to receive from Marsh and other colleagues.

The list of Gemmill’s lasting friendships extends to other notable “Coronation Street” actors, including Chris Gascoyne (Peter Barlow), Mikey North (Gary Windass), and Georgia Taylor (Toyah Battersby). These relationships underscore a community spirit among the cast, one that transcends their on-screen roles.

Discussing his on-screen dynamics, particularly with Marsh, Gemmill expressed appreciation for the depth of their characters’ relationship. “The way they played out the love story with Michelle was something I really loved,” he stated. Their storyline was allowed to develop gradually, offering a genuine build-up to their eventual union, which was a significant plotline during his time on the soap.

Despite his character’s dramatic exit during a Christmas episode, Gemmill remains open to various future opportunities in acting, whether on television, film, or the stage. “I’m not one of those actors that knows immediately what they’re doing next,” he confessed, signalling his openness to exploring diverse roles and returning to the soap opera world if the right opportunity arises.
