In a blunder during a press shoot, MP William Wragg inadvertently reveals his wifi password, adding to his recent controversies

William Wragg, the MP for Hazel Grove, found himself in another unfortunate situation when his WiFi password was accidentally exposed in a photograph taken during a newspaper photoshoot. The image, published by The Observer, clearly showed a note with the password pinned to a board behind him, visible to anyone viewing the photograph.

This incident is the latest in a series of challenges for Wragg, who recently became an independent after resigning from the Conservative party. His resignation followed admissions of inadvertently aiding a suspected scammer by sharing fellow MPs’ contact details after being threatened with the release of personal images in what is now referred to as the “parliamentary sexting scam.”

The photograph’s publication quickly attracted attention on social media, with users and political journalists like Ava Santina pointing out the security oversight and critiquing the simplicity of the password. This gaffe has prompted calls for immediate changes to his security settings to prevent unauthorized access.

Wragg, 36, has expressed regret over his actions linked to the sexting scandal, admitting to feeling manipulated and coerced into sharing contacts under duress. His involvement led him to step down from significant roles, including vice-chair of the influential 1922 Committee and chair of the Commons Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee.

The police and parliamentary authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the sexting scam, which has impacted several MPs, journalists, and parliamentary staff. These events have drawn widespread criticism and have had significant repercussions for Wragg’s career and reputation.

As Wragg navigates these compounding issues, this latest privacy breach serves as a reminder of the continuous need for vigilance in personal and professional security practices, especially for public figures.
