Suspect reveals being paid 500,000 rubles for Moscow terror attack

In a shocking revelation following the terrorist attack at Crocus City concert hall near Moscow, one of the suspected terrorists disclosed that he was financially incentivized to commit the attack, with a promise of 500,000 rubles. The interrogation video, shared by RT editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan, shows the bearded suspect detailing his motivations in broken Russian while lying on the ground.

The suspect, who claims to have arrived from Türkiye, admitted to receiving half of the promised amount prior to the attack. This statement came to light after Russia’s FSB security service announced the detention of eleven individuals, including four alleged attackers, in the Bryansk Region close to the Ukrainian border.

During the interrogation, the suspect recounted his actions at the Crocus City concert venue, remorselessly acknowledging the shooting of people “for money.” He elaborated on the financial arrangements, mentioning that 250,000 rubles ($5,418) had already been transferred to his debit card as an advance payment.

The man further disclosed that the orchestrators of the attack, whom he did not know personally, had established communication through the Telegram messaging app and had prepared an arms cache for the assailants. He also mentioned being influenced by sermons from a preacher on Telegram, which eventually led him to be contacted by the attack’s masterminds about a month prior to the incident.

This chilling account provides a glimpse into the motivations behind the deadly attack, highlighting the role of financial incentives in the perpetration of terrorist activities. The ongoing investigation will likely focus on tracing the financial transactions and unravelling the network of individuals responsible for orchestrating such a heinous act.
