British actor expected to accept iconic spy role as Eon productions awaits response

In a significant development for the James Bond franchise, British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson is reportedly poised to accept the iconic role of 007, succeeding Daniel Craig.

Since Craig announced his departure from the spy series after the release of “No Time to Die” in 2021, speculation has swirled regarding his successor. While names like Tom Hardy, Regé-Jean Page, and Idris Elba were tossed around, it’s now suggested that the mantle has been extended to Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Reportedly, Eon Productions intends to commence filming for the 26th Bond film later this year, with Taylor-Johnson, known for his roles in “Kick-Ass,” “Tenet,” and “Bullet Train,” being the frontrunner for the coveted role.

Sources indicate that the formal offer has been presented to Taylor-Johnson, with expectations that he will accept it soon. An insider revealed, “Bond is Aaron’s job, should he wish to accept it. The formal offer is on the table, and they are waiting to hear back.”

Taylor-Johnson previously had a meeting with producer Barbara Broccoli, which reportedly went well, fueling speculations further. His alleged casting aligns with the vision of making the new 007 character a thirtysomething, as shared by Bond co-producer Michael G Wilson.

The actor himself has not outright denied the possibility of his Bond casting. In an interview preceding his role in Sony’s Marvel spin-off “Kraven the Hunter,” when asked about the Bond rumours, Taylor-Johnson emphasized the importance of following one’s intuition and staying focused on the present.

If Taylor-Johnson accepts the role, he will have secured it over other contenders like Richard Madden, James Norton, and Cillian Murphy.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who won a Golden Globe for his performance in “Nocturnal Animals,” has been married to film director Sam Taylor-Johnson since 2012, with whom he shares two children.
