Chalet chaos: Drunken altercation leaves tourist grappling with gruesome injury

A heated altercation between inebriated British tourists at an Austrian ski resort took a gruesome turn, resulting in a 29-year-old holidaymaker losing a portion of his nose during a violent scuffle.

The incident unfolded on Sunday evening in St Anton, renowned for its vibrant après-ski scene, where two groups of tourists engaged in a verbal spat that escalated into physical violence. The confrontation initially erupted within the confines of a local bar before spilling out onto the streets.

According to local law enforcement, the altercation intensified when one individual, purportedly already injured, exited the premises accompanied by two companions around 8 p.m. Shortly thereafter, members of the opposing group vacated the establishment, setting the stage for a clash between the two factions. In a sudden and vicious assault, the assailants launched a surprise attack, unleashing a flurry of kicks and punches.

In the midst of the chaotic melee, the 29-year-old victim fell prey to a shocking act of violence, as one of the assailants viciously bit off a portion of his nose before fleeing the scene. Despite efforts to apprehend the perpetrator, they managed to evade capture, disappearing into the bustling pedestrian zone of St Anton am Arlberg.

The injured holidaymaker was promptly transported to a hospital in Zams for initial treatment before being transferred to a facility in Innsbruck for further medical attention.
