Reckless plunge leaves victim with severe injuries as social media erupts

In a jaw-dropping incident that rocked the community, a teenager has been sentenced to jail after pleading guilty to pushing her friend off a towering 60ft bridge, causing severe injuries.

Taylor Smith, then 19, admitted to the reckless act in 2019, leaving her younger friend, Jordan Holgerson, 17, with lasting physical trauma. The shocking 10-second video of the incident quickly went viral on social media.

The court heard that Taylor pushed Jordan without any apparent reason, leaving her with six broken ribs and punctured lungs. Genelle Holgerson, the victim’s mother, claimed in court that Taylor showed a lack of remorse, leaving the scene immediately without checking on Jordan’s well-being.

Jordan, emotionally distressed, had a victim’s advocate read her statement in court, describing the horrifying experience of falling through the air and fearing for her life. She expressed her terror as she was pulled from the water, witnessing her body change color by the second.

Taking into consideration the severity of Jordan’s injuries, Clark County District Court Judge Darvin Zimmerman handed down a two-day jail sentence and a $300 fine to Taylor Smith.

In a courtroom apology, Taylor said, “I’d like to sincerely apologize to Jordan Holgerson, her family, and friends for the pain and humiliation I have caused by my mindless actions.” She insisted that her thoughts had been haunted by the incident since it occurred.

The incident, which took place in 2019, has sparked debates on social media, with users expressing their shock and disbelief over the recklessness captured in the video.
