TikTok turmoil: Influencer’s dream world cruise turns into a nightmare

Luxury 9-month voyage hits rough waters for disillusioned TikToker

In a surprising twist of events, TikToker and influencer Marc Sebastian, known for his adventures and travel updates, has taken to social media to express his dissatisfaction with Royal Caribbean’s Ultimate World Cruise. The 274-night voyage, touted as ‘never-before-offered,’ kicked off on December 10, 2023, promising an extravagant journey around the globe, only to leave Marc Sebastian less than impressed.

Despite Sebastian’s initial excitement and persistent pleas to be sent on the lavish cruise, the reality has turned out to be far from idyllic. Atria Books eventually granted his wish but for a shorter duration—18 nights instead of the full nine-month marathon. However, a series of updates from Sebastian indicates that even 18 nights on the cruise may be more than he bargained for.

In a video tour of his room, Sebastian bluntly stated, “I hate it here,” highlighting the $8,500 cost for 18 nights on the South America and Antarctica leg of the journey. He criticized the room’s small shower and limited water temperature options, describing them as “freezing, scalding hot, or third-degree burns.”

Sebastian’s grievances extended to the alleged repeated cancellations of excursions, leading to tensions among passengers. An early morning start for a penguin-watching excursion on the Falkland Islands resulted in arguments over tender boarding, with Sebastian forming alliances with fellow passengers to secure a spot.

Despite the anticipation, harsh weather conditions forced the cancellation of the Falkland Islands excursion, further dampening the TikToker’s experience. Sebastian’s updates have drawn mixed reactions online, with some viewers expressing amusement and others sharing their disillusionment with cruise experiences.

As the influencer documents his journey, it remains to be seen whether the remaining months of the Ultimate World Cruise will bring more positive moments or continue to be a source of discontent.
