Netflix saves the day: Acclaimed action series ‘Warrior’ gets rescued after cancellation
It’s the bitter pill many TV fans have to swallow: the heartache of seeing a beloved series meet its end. This time, it’s ‘Warrior’ that’s fallen victim to the chopping block, with Max deciding not to greenlight a fourth season, leaving fans devastated.
The show, set amidst the gripping backdrop of San Francisco’s Chinatown during the brutal Tong Wars of the late 19th Century, centered around Ah Sahm, a martial arts virtuoso who journeys from China to America under mysterious circumstances.
But fear not, faithful followers! Netflix is riding in as the hero, coming to the rescue by securing all three existing seasons to hit its streaming platform starting February 2024.
There’s a glimmer of hope too – sources suggest that if ‘Warrior’ strikes a chord with the Netflix audience, there’s potential for the streamer to order a fresh season.
This series has already navigated through multiple homes in the past few years, starting on Cinemax in 2019 for two seasons before moving to Max for its third season, which wrapped up in August this year.
Jonathan Tropper, the series creator, expressed his gratitude, stating, “Warrior is a show that simply refuses to die. Through changes in platforms and leadership, our team continued to craft something powerful and unique. Now, thanks to Netflix, it gets a new lease on life.”
Shannon Lee, executive producer and daughter of Bruce Lee, echoed this sentiment, hoping for greater recognition for the cast and crew and dreaming of a continuation for the dedicated fanbase, all made possible by Netflix’s global reach. The saga of ‘Warrior’ isn’t over just yet!
