Will Poulter, renowned for his roles in ‘We’re the Millers’ and the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ isn’t just standing up to trolls; he’s challenging perceptions around his unique appearance and embracing his journey with dyspraxia.

In an interview with GQ, Poulter shared insights into his experience with dyspraxia, a neurodevelopmental condition often misunderstood. Rather than viewing it as a hindrance, Poulter sees it as an asset. He affirmed, “People talk about people who are neurodiverse as if it’s some sort of limitation or a disorder framed negatively, but actually, it makes them special; it makes them more advanced. There are definitely things that I use as an actor to make me better at my job.”

Addressing online comments regarding his appearance, particularly after being cast as Adam Warlock in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ Poulter boldly confronted unnecessary criticism. He expressed discomfort with the debate over his physical appearance and challenged societal norms dictating attractiveness. Poulter emphasized, “Why are we discussing or spending so much time discussing people’s physical appearance? Unfortunately, social media has created this problematic idea that everyone’s opinion on everything matters equally.”

Acknowledging his own experience with intrusion due to his fame, Poulter recognized the privilege he holds as a male actor. He shed light on the challenges faced by his female counterparts in the industry, who often endure heightened scrutiny and objectification. Poulter stated, “To a large degree, male privilege has protected me from that kind of objectification, and the idea that up until now really I’ve been able to go about my job and not have my physical appearance be something of a subject matter.”

In an industry where appearance is often scrutinized, Poulter’s resilience, advocacy for neurodiversity, and challenge to societal norms stand as a testament to his commitment to authenticity and breaking stereotypes.
