Jonathan Joss, known for ‘King of the Hill’, was fatally shot near his former home in San Antonio
Jonathan Joss, the voice behind John Redcorn in the animated series “King of the Hill” and actor in “Parks and Recreation”, was tragically shot and killed outside his former home in San Antonio, Texas, on June 1, 2025.
The 59-year-old actor was found injured by police on Dorsey Drive around 7 p.m. Despite officers’ attempts to save him, Joss was pronounced dead at the scene.
His husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, stated that the couple had returned to their former residence, which had been destroyed in a fire earlier that year, to check for mail. While there, they discovered the skull of one of their deceased dogs placed in front of the property. As they reacted emotionally, a man approached them, allegedly shouting homophobic slurs before opening fire. Joss reportedly pushed his husband out of the way, sacrificing his own life.
The suspect, 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with murder. San Antonio police have stated that, as of now, there is no evidence to classify the shooting as a hate crime, but investigations are ongoing.
Joss, of Comanche and White Mountain Apache descent, was a respected figure in the entertainment industry, known for his authentic portrayal of Native American characters. He had recently confirmed his participation in the upcoming revival of “King of the Hill”, set to premiere on Hulu.
Earlier in the year, Joss faced personal tragedies, including the loss of his home and three dogs in a fire. He had been actively working to rebuild his life and career.
The entertainment community mourns the loss of Jonathan Joss, remembering him for his talent, authenticity, and the legacy he leaves behind.
