The Duchess of Sussex will explore culinary arts and home living in her upcoming Netflix show, enhancing her and Prince Harry’s entertainment ventures

Meghan Markle is making a vibrant return to television with a fresh lifestyle series under her belt. Representatives of the Duchess of Sussex have officially announced her collaboration with Netflix on a new show. The program, which is still awaiting a title, will dive into various aspects of daily living, including cooking, gardening, entertaining, and nurturing friendships.

The production is currently underway, directed by Michael Steed, a seasoned director known for his work on the Emmy-winning series, “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.” This marks a significant step for Meghan as she branches further into the media and entertainment industry, building on her portfolio of influential projects.

This announcement arrived shortly after the Duchess launched her company, American Riviera Orchard. The venture aims to offer a range of products from tableware and textiles to gourmet food items such as jellies and marmalades. It seems both the Netflix series and her new company are intertwined components of her broader ambition to establish a lifestyle brand.

Furthermore, Prince Harry is also establishing his presence at Netflix. He is involved in a forthcoming non-fiction series about the US Open Polo Championship. The series will offer viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the sport, highlighting the intensity and dedication required at the competitive level. This project is being managed by Miloš Balać, who gained recognition from the series “Welcome to Wrexham.”

The couple’s engagement with Netflix isn’t new. They signed a substantial deal with the streaming giant in 2020, but until now, their most notable release has been the intimate docuseries, “Harry & Meghan.” This series drew both viewers and critics, with some questioning the diversity and impact of their contributions to Netflix. However, these new projects suggest a strategic shift, focusing less on royal connections and more on broad-interest themes that could attract a wider audience.

By entering the lifestyle and sports documentary space, Meghan and Harry are not just expanding their professional repertoire but are also aiming to influence public interest and appreciation for these fields. The strategy mirrors the success seen by series like “Drive to Survive,” which significantly boosted global interest in Formula 1 racing. They are likely hoping to replicate this success, bringing polo and lifestyle entertainment into the limelight.
